1st- Nudes - A Pocketful of Nudes - Pascal Baetens, Belgium
Original, simple and well-made in a pocket-sized format that the jury liked, this work manages to maintain a high level of quality in a field that has been explored by many photographers.
1st- Monographs – It's My Book – Maurizio Marcato, Italy
"It's My Book" unites an original format with high-quality images taken from the different areas the photographer has worked in, and it is all presented beautifully.
1st- Reportage – 13 Coins – Luciano Perbellini, Italy
The quality of direct images dealing with an emotionally involving subject. This book involved the collaboration of many people in what was a wide-ranging project.
1st- Portraits – Der Zauber des Lebens - Anne Geddes – Collection Rolf Heines, Germany
This prize has been awarded to the publisher for the print quality, the layout, graphic design, choice of paper and all of the things that went into the making this magnificent book of the work of a great professional photographer.
1st- Architecture – Contemporary Irish Architecture – Gerry O'Leary, Ireland
Photographs with an elegant, original touch that bring architecture life and give it warmth.
1st- Nature - Flusswasser – Walter Oczlon, Austria
"Flusswassser" shows nature without colour, but in an original and simple way that reflects the element that is its subject; water.
2nd - Nature - Amazing Planet - Filip Kulisev, Slovakia
Special Mention – Transit - Uwe Ommer, Germany
The jury decided to award a prize to a professional photographer who has worked a great deal on social themes and with this book has created a highly original account of a journey around the world. The publisher, Taschen, also deserves a mention for the quality of the layout and the printing.
FEP – Best Book 2010 – FASHION FOOD – Helge Kirchberger, Austria
Here we have an example of teamwork that has produced a book of the highest quality. The quality of the printing also contributes to the final result, a book in which fashion and still life combine in images that are both elegant and modern.
About the Awards
The aim of this prize is to promote a photographic book, awarding prizes not only to the photographer but also to the publisher, the designer and all those who use their creativity to create professional products that are an example and inspiration to lovers of the photographic image.
- Books published in the last three years are eligible to compete for the prize, but books published privately, digitally or in limited editions are not. Books produced by members of the jury or connected to them in any way are excluded from the competition.
- Each book can be submitted either by its author or publisher, who must complete and sign the special entry form, which can be found on the FEP Web Site (www.europeanphotographers.eu).
- One copy of each book must be sent no later than 31st December 2010 (based on date of postmark) to the secretariat of the competition at the following address:

Books may be entered into one of the following categories, but should a book be considered worthy of a prize, the Jury reserves the right to move it to another category or to create a new category for it if it does not fit into the existing categories.
- Portraits
- Reportage
- Nudes
- Nature Photography
- Monographs
- Commercial (calendars, CDs, DVDs…..)
- For the first edition of this competition, books produced more than 3 years ago may be submitted. These books will be inserted into this special category.
Entry Fees
The entry fee is 50.00 Euro for each book submitted by a photographer who is a member of a National Association which is a member of the FEP or 70.00 Euro for each book submitted by all others. Entry fees may be paid by:

Return of Entries
Books entered for the competition will be donated to the FEP library. In the case of books of high value, a request can be made for the book to be returned but postage costs must be paid by the person requesting the return of the book.
The Jury
The technical international Jury will consist of at least 5 experts nominated by FEP and the Jury’s decisions will be final. The winners will be awarded at a special ceremony at the Second FEP European Congress of Professional Photographers, to be held in Lyon, France, on February 6th to 8th 2011. The awards will consist of certificates and an “FEP Golden Book Award”. Authors who gain second and third place IN EACH CATEGORY will be presented with a certificate. From the category winners the jury will then select an Overall Winner, who will be presented as the “FEP European Photo Book of the Year”.

Results will be published in the press and on the FEP Web Site
Only the authors/publishers of books who win prizes will be contacted by email or telephone and it is hoped that they will be able to come to Lyon to receive their prizes in person.
The prize will be presented to the person who enters a book for the competition (author or editor). If the same book is entered more than once, the jury will only accept the entry which was sent first (based on date of postmark).
The FEP reserves the right to reproduce images extracted from the books entered for the purposes of promoting the event or for educational reasons only. It is the responsibility of the entrants to have obtained, if necessary, permission from copyright holders, in order to allow their possible publication, within the limits described above.
The participants’ personal information will be for internal organisational use only, in full respect of national and international privacy laws.
